Solidarity

From feminist writer Francesca Gargallo, Mexico-Italy

Your life, Leyla, is important to feminists because it reminds us that we have to put the body if we want to oppose the patriarchy that engenders torture, prison isolation and the denial of the right to live in peace. Putting your life at risk with a hunger strike to obtain the freedom of a prisoner who embodies the hopes of a people, is an act of enormous courage.
